In an effort to encourage students to “Do Their Best” during fitness testing, all 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade classes will participate in the INEZ FITNESS CHALLENGE.  All 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students participate in the Fitness Gram Fitness Test, which measures each student’s level of physical fitness.  The tests include the “Pacer Test” (Cardio Respiratory Fitness), 90° Push Up Test (Muscular Strength),Curl Up Test (Muscular Endurance), Modified Pull-Ups (Muscular Strength and Endurance), and Sit and Reach Test (Flexibility Test).  All individual results remain confidential.  Parents will receive a report at the end of testing.  You can find a link to the Fitness Gram “Healthy Fitness Zone “ chart under P.E. Links.

After each class has finished their testing I am going to average the score for each test.  The class with the highest average on the most tests will win the Fitness Challenge award.  That class will be the holder of the trophy until we test the second time.  The second time the students participate in fitness testing, the “team” class that shows the greatest improvement will win the trophy.  If everybody can improve their score by even 1, their team will improve.  The goal is to encourage students to be more physically active between tests in order to improve their personal best, which will in turn improve their team score.
